Our mission number one is safety and during the season 2017/2018 we’re moving forward on this direction. Thanks to the precious cooperation with Fondazione Montagna Sicura an ARTVA training camp has been settle in Sant’Anna, Gressoney Valley. The camp is part of the project “PrévRiskHautesMontagnes” included in the program of international cooperation between Italy and France.
Off-piste skiing demands an in-depth knowledge of the territory, the ability to make assessments and experience in using self-help equipment. In case of avalanches, you must know how to act quickly and efficiently to rescue any victims. This demands constant training in the use of rescue equipment amongst which ARTVA, the shovel and probe so as to deal with an avalanche situation. The system produced by the Swiss company Genswein, is managed by a command station where users can activate one or more transmitters (5 in total), buried at different depths and gradients to simulate realistic search situations with different levels of difficulty.
The use of the ARTVA training camp is completely free and we highly recommend to use it in order to be always updated and ready to face any event that might happens in a high mountain territory.
