Monterosa and his valleys are vibrant and intense territories, to be experienced and discovered through the elements that change and shape the territory: ice, water, air and earth. With more than 15 peaks over 4,000 metres, the Monterosa massif is the mountain group with the highest average altitude in the Alps and the second highest peak in Europe (Dufour peak 4,634 m).
This allows for experiences at 360 degrees to satisfy all needs and requests, also the more exciting ones.
During the winter, nature retreats and slows her flow and it is at this moment that waterfalls freeze and allow ice climbing. Among the most extreme winter events, one cannot miss Heliskiing, where a helicopter flight is combined with the emotion of freeride skiing. For freeride lovers, Monterosa is the perfect place and exclusive ski mountaineering slopes are also groomed and secured. The main competition is the Mezzalama Cup, an international ski mountaineering competition during the spring. Lastly, the WeissRunner Gressoney, a night race with more than 800 positive altitude, takes place on the lighted Weissmatten slope.
