Antagnod is a small well-preserved village that enjoys an enviable view, it is in fact a perfect balcony completely exposed to the sun overlooking the entire chain of Monte Rosa. But the main feature of this location is its historical and cultural dimension, from the Walser architectural structures to the wooden huts and picturesque rustic houses. The Church of Saint Martin de Tours stands out, which houses an altar with wooden bas-reliefs from the Baroque period. Do not miss the Maison Merlet et Challant, two typical local structures around which ancient legends revolve and the Museum of Sacred Art of Ayas, Chamoluc and Antagnod which boasts pieces from the fifteenth century. From the locality it is possible to reach, through a path, the summit of Monte Zerbion and admire the Madonna that watches over the valley. Here in Antagnod there is still a unique tradition for Italy, a production of wooden shoes. Antagnod is in fact the production site of the “Sabots”. They are the typical handmade wooden clogs used by the locals all year round, able to keep their feet warm and dry in every season.
