HISTORY

The first edition of the AMA (Alagna-Monterosa-Alagna) was in 1992.

In 1994 the Italians Fabio Meraldi and Gisella Bendotti set the records, still unbeaten, who completed the course in 4h 24 ‘and 5h 35’.

The race was relaunched in 2018 with a new format, in which competitors compete in pairs, tied for safety reasons and wear micro-crampons at the top of the course.

AMA VK2 – A DOUBLE VERTICAL KILOMETER

In addition to the pairs race, the #MonteRosaSkyMarathon, the # AMAVK2, an individual race that reaches 3,260 m at the Indren Station, is also part of the format of the event.

The route starts from Alagna Valsesia (1192 m) passing from Bocchetta delle Pisse (2396 m), up to Indren Station (3260 m), for a total length of 9 km and 2086 m of elevation gain.
