Outdoor sports in Gressoney

Sport in the open air is good for your health and Gressoney is ready to offer you several alternatives for adults and children, to do at any time of the year.

Winter season

Get your skis on and grab your poles and.. let’s go! Come onto the stage and take part in the opera in the world’s largest winter sports theatre, the Monterosa Ski area with over 100 km of slopes at your disposal. You are the protagonist.

In addition, the Weissmatten area is particularly suitable for skiers and snowboarders.

Alternatively, you can take a walk on the snow and ski touring with dedicated routes, with access through special ski passes.

If you like competition, ski mountaineering is characterized by an important yearly event: the Trofeo Mezzalama (Mezzalama Trophy), a marathon among glaciers usually held in April, starting from Breuil-Cervinia and ending in Gressoney-La-Trinité.

What better occasion for an adrenaline rush on the Fun Slope at Colle Bettaforca, complete with tunnel with entry, ups & downs, parabolics, snail with tunnel and depression with ups & downs. Dizzying stuff.

The Freeride Paradise in Alagna Valsesia is the ideal place for tackling tough off-piste on a snowboard, ski or telemark, starting from the Indren glacier at 3.200 metres.

If you don’t want to take too many risks and are looking for more sober entertainment, the Alpe di Mera Snowpark is suitable for families and children.

Are you ready to hit the slopes? At your signal, unleash the winter!

Summer season

As in winter, you can go hiking and trekking in the woods in summer as well. You can cross the Monte Rosa glacier in complete safety: this is one of the least dangerous glaciers, so trips are 100% guaranteed.

You are special for us and deserve all the best. Thus, we want to take you higher and higher: you can reach peaks over 4.000 metres in a day and visit the highest refuge in Europe, Capanna Margherita at Punta Gnifetti at a height of 4.554 metres.

Right now, you are the ruler of the whole world and you can look down on everyone.

If you want to fly low, but, at the same time, go wild, there are downhill tracks especially made for mountain bike lovers and the opportunity to feel the thrill of using the e-bike and let yourself be caressed by the pure mountain air.

But the human soul is made for challenging itself and going beyond its limits; for this reason, there are some challenging running races.

The Tor des Géants (“Tour of the Giants”) or TOR330 is the most important trail running competition in the Aosta Valley, held every year in September and has a high media profile: runners have to complete the 330 km route within 150 hours.

The Tot Dret (“Straight ahead”) or TOR130 is a 130 km trail competition from Gressoney to Courmayeur to be covered within 44 hours.

The MonteRosa Walser Trail includes 114-, 50- and 20-km routes, as well as a non-competitive route for disabled and families with children up to 14 years old.

Will you succeed?
