Valle di Gressoney

Gressoney-La-Trinité

Colle Betta

By: Visit Monterosa

Colle Betta

Its homogeneous slopes and absence of vegetation together with its enviable exposure make this route a “must” for all alpine skiers.

From the Stafal station in Gressoney Valley, you go up in the cable car until you reach the Sant’Anna plain at a height of 2,180 metres above sea level. On your right between the cable car and the “Jutz” restaurant, two flags indicate the departure point of the groomed and packed wide track that follows the summer road to the Alpe Sitten. Here, for those less skilled and not only, you can make your first stop at Beppe’s “Sitten” Mountain Refuge. You then continue on a slightly steeper stretch on the right of the chairlift poles to rejoin the summer road before arriving at the “2727 Colle Betta” Mountain Refuge at the exit of the Sant’Anna-Colle Betta chairlift. When you arrive you will be amazed by the view. To the east you will see the Lys Glacier (going down from the Lys Pass at a height of 4,227 metres to form the Gressoney Valley) and the highly fascinating Lyskamm ridge also known by its famous yet inauspicious nickname of the “Mangiatrice di uomini” (“Man-eater”).

Technical specification Betta Pass:
departure 2,180 metres above sea level
arrival 2,730 metres above sea level
height difference 550 metres
length 3.10 Km
