Pedological Geological Path

Discovering the history of the Alps, in depth!

By: Monterosa Ski

Corno del camoscio

The Geological Pedological itinerary is an educational ring itinerary that starts from Passo Salati, at an altitude of 2,936 meters

The route follows that of the Botanical route, but must be tackled in the opposite direction. It measures approximately 2.3 km, with an altitude difference of 53 meters. Eight explanatory panels are arranged along its development.

In the first section, you reach the Angelo Mosso Scientific Institute of the University of Turin, where you can stop for a free guided tour. Over the years, the center has hosted many important geological studies. Search results are visible in the rooms within it. Continuing on you reach the Vigevano refuge and the col d'Olen, to finally climb to the Corno del Camoscio.

Here are the geological overviews. After having analyzed them and having admired the incredible panorama that this place offers on Monte Rosa, we return to Passo Salati. A real journey to learn about the geological history of the Alps and the characteristics of the high altitude soils. To reach the starting point of the route, use the lifts that reach Passo dei Salati from Alagna.
