Gressoney is undoubtedly defined as the cradle of mountaineering for the splendid ascents on Monte Rosa.
The offer of excursions is certainly among the most complete and Monte Rosa is the massif where we find glacier climbs suitable also for those who want to approach mountaineering for the first time.
The Punta Indren cable car, at 3275 metres above sea level, is the ideal gateway to reach some of the most spectacular 4000 metres of the Alps.
Arriving at an altitude with the lifts it will be easy to reach the refuges where hospitality and safety will be of support for your magnificent experience; about 40 minutes on foot or with mountaineering skis you reach the Rifugio Città di Mantova at 3498 meters, continuing for about half anhour you meet the Rifugio Punta Gnifetti at 3647 meters.
From these two refuges, where it is possible to stay overnight, usually you leave very early in the morning for several ascents of different difficulties, the most emblematic excursion of Monte Rosa is the ascent to Punta Gnifetti where La Capanna Margherita is located, the highest refuge in Europe at 4554 meters above sea level.
All excursions must be carried out safely, require adequate mountaineering equipment, an Alpine Guide who can accompany you and the weather conditions that are optimal.

This year the ski lifts from Staffal to Indren for the summer season will open every day from 1 June to 18 September 2022 with hours from 7.30 to 12.30 and from 13.45 to 17.30.
