Mont Mars, where nature reigns.
The Mont Mars Nature Reserve in the municipality of Fontainemore is a jewel that gathers what high mountain nature has to offer: forests, grasslands, and natural lakes; but also history and traditions such as the historic mule track of the Fontainemore - Oropa route, the famous religious procession that has been taking place for more than four hundred years across the Colle della Balma d'Oropa.
On its trails, you can also encounter the many species typical of alpine areas, such as Deer, Roe Deer, Marmot, Pheasant, Ptarmigan, Alpine Chaffinch, and Dipper.
In the summer you can take several hikes from Pian Coumarial to the Barma Refuge, located at the foot of the hill of the same name. During the winter you will be enchanted by the beauty of the snow-covered landscape, thanks to the cross-country ski trail, snowshoe trails and ski touring.
