Established in 1979, the Alta Valsesia Natural Park is characterised as an alpine park par excellence, stretching from the 880 m of Fobello to the 4554 m of Punta Gnifetti, making it the highest park in Europe. An alpine park par excellence, it is dominated by the presence of the Monte Rosa massif and its glaciers, which, especially in the Alagna area, provide an extraordinary and exciting backdrop for excursions.
Its western and north-western borders run along the watershed that separates Valsesia from the Gressoney Valley, Swiss territory and the Anzasca Valley. To the east it borders the alpine ridge of the Monte Rosa massif.
The management of the territory is entrusted to the park rangers, who have the function of judicial police but also study the protected area, collect data and provide environmental education.
