In the beautiful Val d'Ayas, Champoluc means especially skiing and winter sports, thanks to the generous slopes of Monte Rosa that host three ski resorts on their slopes, between Valle d'Aosta and Piedmont.
The village of Champoluc, a fraction of the municipality of Ayas located over 1500 meters, was born with the migrations in late medieval times of the Walser populations from Swiss Valais and has had only relatively recently a great development linked to tourism.
The beauty of Champoluc lies mainly in its panoramic position and in the surrounding alpine scenery that are ideal for nature and sports excursions.
A few hours of visit to the charming Old Town of Champoluc are really worth it. You can get an idea of the Walser culture, try sabots and enter a rascard. Champoluc is not really a Walser village, but in the area of Val d'Ayas there are several villages that were originally the Walser villages, including Mascognaz, Frantze, Crest, Cuneaz, Resy, Saint Jacques and others.
