Woman in a Walser costume

The world of the Walser is full of mysterious supernatural presences: curious elves, treasures hidden in the mountains and protected by menacing spirits, wild men, processions of the dead and vengeful devils.

The Walser prided themselves on being able to read the fates in the events of everyday life, had a varied magical culture and yearned for freedom of thought, venerating their origins in a whirlwind universe of legends and fairy tales and true stories, which animated the long winter evenings and which have persisted to this day thanks to the isolation in which the Walser have lived for about a millennium.
