In 1957, the 'Gruppo Folkloristico di Gressoney - Greschoney Trachtengruppe' was officially founded, with the aim of enhancing the heritage of folk dances and songs in German or dialect; the group participates in national and international events and is the protagonist during summer festivals.
Since the 1990s, the folk group has organised the Beer Festival during the celebrations of Gressoney Saint Jean's patron saint. A festival that recalls the finest Germanic traditions with Kühbacher beer that is brought every year directly from Munich by the brewery of the Beck Peccoz barons, originally from Gressoney. The entire village is involved in organising the event, and it has become one of the most renowned beer festivals in Italy.
The group, together with the Walser Cultural Centre, is the official organ of the area that safeguards the tradition of Gressoney's precious women's and men's clothing.
